This position is based in Michigan and has a home-based office with periodic in-office work at our main office in Berkley as well as the offices of our clients. Periodic travel is required.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • 4+ years of experience developing, designing, and managing successful energy efficiency programs/projects (or similar/related experience).
  • 2+ years of experience managing direct reports, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and professional development.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Experience mentoring and managing client-based teams operating under a staff augmentation model and framework to support client operations
  • Demonstrated experience with client management, KPI tracking, and leading a team to meet targets.
  • Proven ability to identify and pursue business opportunities that drive company growth, including developing and articulating the stakeholder value proposition and driving a team with new approaches and ideas, and proposal development.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement in quality assurance/control theories, techniques, and applications.
  • Firm understanding of the procurement of best practices and contract administration.

Preferred Additional Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting utility energy efficiency programs or pilots
  • Technical training (CEA, CEM, LEED, PMP, etc.).
  • Industry certifications, professional affiliations, and publications.
  • Knowledge of industrial facilities/systems and how energy efficiency applies to them.

Day-to-Day

  • Lead, mentor and manage a program team of energy professionals operating under a staff augmentation framework.
  • Oversee program performance by ensuring energy savings, managing finances, fulfilling contract requirements, strategic planning, quality assurance, and improving operational efficiency within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Assist in managing client relationships.
  • Assist Energy Sciences with idea generation and research on program options.
  • Collaborate and participate with Energy Sciences program team in new program ideation and research.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with local trade allies or service providers to ensure the adoption and promotion of applicable programs/pilots.
  • Assist in the development of company sustainability plans and goals.
  • Manage and monitor activities of subcontractors.
  • Analyze market trends and technologies to enhance deployment opportunities for client programs.
  • Anticipate and identify roadblocks or potential problems.
  • Incorporate “best practice” methods of program implementation.
  • Participate in and/or lead program development and design.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Report on program progress to goals to clients and internal team on schedules and budget forecast (spend and savings).
  • Prepare and give program presentations as needed.
  • Collaborate with the utility program management team, other departments, and outside services to provide input and assist with the development of tools, programs, and projects.
  • Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of the team to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among peer group team members.
  • Lead direct reports during onboarding, guide and implement professional development, and promote positive team member retention.
  • Establish continuous goal-setting initiatives and regularly review with team members to ensure progress and completion.
  • Ensure the accurate recording of program/project billable hours and analyze/compare them to the budget to inform the team’s current and future resource needs.
  • Participate in interviews, make hiring recommendations for direct reports, and participate in other interviews as requested by Manager.
