Job Description

Lafayette Academy is looking for four exceptional K-4 Elementary teachers for the 2025-2026 school year. Ideal candidates will have a collaborative mindset and a passion for classical education and creating a learning environment that encourages students to appreciate and embrace what is good, true, and beautiful. As a K-4 teacher, you will guide students in developing foundational academic skills, character, and a love of virtue.

Key Accountabilities

1.  Literacy Instruction:

o Teach spelling, reading, grammar, and composition to develop strong

foundational literacy skills.

2.  Literature:

o Teach our classical literature, including stories and poetry, in a way that develops

critical thinking and a love for reading.

o Encourage thoughtful discussion, analysis, and interpretation of literary works.

3.  History:

o Engage students in understanding historical narratives and their connection to

modern life, fostering civic awareness, emphasizing both historical events and

the values and virtues they promote.

4.  Mathematics:

o Teach mathematics with a focus on building problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and mathematical reasoning.

Communication and Organizational Skills: o Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to effectively

manage the classroom, engage students, communicate with parents and collaborate with colleagues.

o Embodies the virtues of wisdom, humility, and responsibility, both in and outside

the classroom.

o Commitment to the school’s mission of fostering academic excellence, virtue,

and moral growth in students.

Educational Qualifications:

o A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field. Classical training is preferred

but not required. All employees will receive professional development in classical education philosophy and pedagogy.
