Company Background :

SunMed Growers, Maryland’s largest Cannabis grower and processor, along with affiliated companies, is experiencing explosive growth. We are seeking an experienced Human Resources leader to join the team. This position is on-site in Warwick, MD (near Middletown, DE). This hands-on role will work closely with the Executive team and Managers in supporting our valued team members. Job Summary:

The Human Resources Director oversees all aspects of our human resource functions and will manage one employee. This tactical position will work closely with our senior leaders to align HR operations and programs with short- and mid-term business priorities. The HR Director will be responsible for the administration of HR programs including benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, occupational health and safety, recognition and morale.

Key Responsibilities:

· Manage HRIS system to ensure proper employee information is maintained and easily accessible.

· Partner with company’s benefits broker and manage company's benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive, equitable, and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.

· Act as primary contact with 401(k), benefits, and other providers.

· Work closely with employees and benefits providers to research and resolve benefit issues.

· Manage annual employee benefits enrollment process.

· Manage Unemployment Insurance Program.

· Manage Workers Compensation Program.

· Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and develop job descriptions that accurately reflect the roles and responsibilities.

· Oversee the onboarding process for all new hires, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition into the company. This includes preparing offer letters, conducting required background checks, coordinating new hire paperwork, and providing initial training on company benefits, policies and procedures.

· Complete I-9 paperwork for new hires.

· Act as a trusted liaison between management and employees.

· Manage and Maintain Employee Handbook.

· Manage Employee licensing process with Maryland Cannabis Association.

· Manage and support Employee Relationship Specialist for Executive Meetings, and Employee and Company Celebrations.

· Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance. 

· Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment, as well as immigration laws.

· Develop and administer the company's performance evaluation process, ensuring timely and constructive feedback is provided to all employees.

· Train managers in effective performance feedback techniques.

· Work with managers to identify employee development needs and create individual development plans.

Qualifications:

· Minimum of 7 years of experience in a progressive HR generalist role, with at least 2 years in management or supervisory capacity.

· In addition to English, fluency in Spanish is preferred.

· Strong problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making capabilities.

· Skilled communicator (verbal and written), ability to effectively present information to small and large groups.

· Broad knowledge of HR functions including employee relations, benefits, compliance, compensation and organizational development.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Workforce Go and ERP systems.

· SHRM certification is a plus.

· Must be highly proficient in HRIS software, including running reports and maintaining the integrity of the HRIS.

· On-site (5 days) position at the company’s office in Warwick, MD.
