Vice President of Operations

Metro Detroit (Onsite)

$175k - 195k

Overview:

A leading B2C retail organization is looking for a Director of Operations with over a decade of experience managing international and domestic operations. This role will drive strategic oversight of supply chain, logistics, purchasing, distribution, and order fulfillment functions, while maintaining a hands on approach to the day to day.

Key Requirements:

  • Deep expertise in managing end-to-end supply chains, including international logistics and long lead-time imports (especially from China).
  • Strong leadership in distribution center operations, with a focus on internal DCs and secondary 3PL partnerships.
  • Proven success in implementing ERP systems and leading capacity planning initiatives.
  • Track record of driving change management and continuous process improvement.
  • Experience managing infrastructure upgrades, including warehouse management systems.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in handling finished goods imports and coordinating with multiple vendors.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms, ideal if instrumental in a transformation, upgrade, or implementation.
  • Exposure to sales and operations planning (S&OP) tools and methodologies.
  • Experience modernizing logistics to stay competitive in retail and e-commerce.
  • Understanding of trade compliance and advanced planning strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret data and translate insights into operational improvements.
  • Skilled in managing vendor contracts and third-party relationships.
  • Proficient in ERP and supply chain planning systems.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead global logistics and supply chain operations, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage distribution center performance, implementing best practices to meet service standards.
  • Analyze operational data to inform strategic decisions and drive hands-on improvements.
  • Develop and execute capacity planning aligned with S&OP goals and supplier performance.
  • Oversee procurement, order processing, and third-party logistics contracts to ensure timely and cost-effective fulfillment.
