Company Overview

My client - a cutting-edge hardware startup in the space sector - is seeking a Business Operations professional to support their rapidly growing team in Los Angeles. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will serve as the operational backbone of the company, owning the systems, compliance, and day-to-day workflows that enable the business to scale.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and loves building clean systems from scratch!

Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize business operations for a fast-growing aerospace manufacturing organization.
  • Manage equity records and employee compensation processes in collaboration with leadership and external partners.
  • Oversee contracts, vendors, and purchasing systems to enable smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure company adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including documentation, filings, and licenses.
  • Coordinate office facilities, workspace management, travel logistics, and general administration.
  • Establish tools and processes for tracking key operational metrics, budgets, and reporting.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to company leadership and cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and support business scale-up.

Qualifications

Required:

  • ~10 years of business operations experience at hardware or manufacturing startups
  • Proven ownership of back-office functions (equity, compliance, contracts, general admin)
  • Experience leading operations through major scale-up phases in fast-growing hardware, robotics, or defense tech startups
  • Experience supporting facilities operations - including leases, workspace logistics, and EHS compliance
  • Strong familiarity with ITAR/export regulations
  • High-energy, results-driven, thrives in fast-changing, ambiguous settings
  • Strong execution skills combined with a systems-thinking mindset

Desired:

  • Prior experience in aerospace, hardware, or manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable operational processes
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting workflows
  • Experience managing external vendors, suppliers, and service contracts
  • Familiarity with supporting teams across multiple locations or facilities
  • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional leadership teams during growth phases
